Have Faith in the Future
Recently Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles presided at a leadership conference in our region. I was among the many who were not invited to be there. However, after hearing reports from some of those who attended, I have gained some information that has caused me to think and ponder.
Members were encouraged to do the following.
- Have faith in the future – do not fear the future.
- Keep the Savior and our covenants at the center of our lives.
- Stay on that covenant path.
ESTATE PLANNING’S THREE REASONS WHY
An estate plan is your opportunity to indicate how you want your property, belongings, and financial assets distributed after you die. Without a written plan, you leave these personal choices up to state law and probate courts. You also risk damaged relationships in your family over disagreements over the division of your assets.
Self Reliance Groups
The next Self Reliance Groups will be starting in September. Groups will be organized according to the interest for each type of group.
The Finding Strength in the Lord – Emotional Resilience group and the Personal Finance group are committed to occur. The other groups will occur if there is enough interest from our Stake and other local Stakes together. Self Reliance Groups are not effective as solo activities.

Sanitation in a Disaster
Human waste is one of the deadliest substances on earth.
Where sanitation is poor, death & disease are rampant. Our current systems for disposing of waste can be affected by many situations. If we lose water, we lose sewer. If we lose power for an extended time, we also lose sewer. In an earthquake or landslide sewer lines can rupture.
In each of these scenarios, our instincts might be to use a camp potty, an RV or even dig a pit latrine. These solutions are very dangerous if we don’t know how to properly set up and dispose of the waste. They will bring animals, vermin and insects into our environment that spread disease.
Exposure to human waste will make your family very sick.
