Brigham City South Stake Welfare/Self Reliance Newsletter – May 2025

What an Exciting Month – Beginning 5 April 2025

General Conference gave us wonderful messages from the General Officers, General Authorities, Apostles, and God’s Prophet. Hopefully you have started to study these messages. Then we were able to celebrate the Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter. Last Saturday and Sunday we were blessed to receive inspired direction from our Stake Presidency focused on our Stake’s needs.

Ensign College Is Transforming Its Academic Calendar

Beginning Spring 2025, most Ensign College campus courses will move from the current 14-week semester to two 7-week blocks within a semester. The change will be a big one, Ensign College President Bruce C. Kusch said. “But we’re confident it will be a positive one.”

SPRING CLEANING YOUR FINANCES

Review, Organize, and Evaluate to Refresh Your Financial Plan

Spring is often associated with renewal and organization, making it a perfect time to review and refine financial habits. Just as decluttering a home can create a sense of order, assessing financial plans can help bring clarity and direction. Taking the time to organize accounts, evaluate spending, and adjust financial goals can set the stage for the months ahead.

Practical Courses with Spiritual Benefits

The Lord has said, “It is my purpose to provide for my saints . . . but it must needs be done in mine own way” (Doctrine and Covenants 104:15, 16). This is a promise that Heavenly Father will help take care of His children as they follow Him. Self-reliance does not mean that we can accomplish or obtain anything we want. If we are self-reliant we believe that through the power of Christ, and through our own effort, we can work for the spiritual and practical needs of life. Many people can become more self-reliant. With Self Reliance Groups much of the work takes place in small groups that combine spiritual principles with practical skills.

The next Self-Reliance Groups are scheduled to begin on September 14, 2025. Groups will be organized based on individual interests.
