Brigham City South Stake Welfare/Self Reliance Newsletter – June 2025

Family and Eternal Perspective

Recently, Coleen and I spent time with family members. We participated in a reunion for the descendants of H. Earl Bay and Iola Maxwell Bay. Also, we interacted with our siblings, our children, our grandchildren, and others of our posterity.

There is power when we get together with those who are family members. We love them; they also love us. We recognize the blessings we receive that were given to us by family members who have gone on to the next phase of our existence. Many of our ancestors have passed through the portal that we mortals refer to as death.

Mid-Year Financial Checkup: Keeping Your Plan on Track

How a Mid-Year Financial Checkup Can Help You Reach Your Goals

The middle of the year is a great time to assess financial progress, adjust goals, and address any changes that may impact your overall plan. A mid-year financial checkup provides an opportunity to review income, spending, savings, investments, and tax planning while there is still time to make adjustments before year-end. By taking a proactive approach, you can evaluate whether you are on track with your financial goals and identify areas for improvement.

Practical Courses with Spiritual Benefits

The Lord has said, “It is my purpose to provide for my saints . . . but it must needs be done in mine own way” (Doctrine and Covenants 104:15, 16). This is a promise that Heavenly Father will help take care of His children as they follow Him. Self-reliance does not mean that we can accomplish or obtain anything we want. If we are self-reliant we believe that through the power of Christ, and through our own effort, we can work for the spiritual and practical needs of life. Many people can become more self-reliant. With Self Reliance Groups much of the work takes place in small groups that combine spiritual principles with practical skills.

The next Self-Reliance Groups are scheduled to begin on September 14, 2025. Groups will be organized based on individual interests.
