BYU-PathWay Worldwide is the Church’s higher education program that provides access to spiritually based degrees completely online at an affordable price.  Many students in our area have participated in the PathWay program to get a better job or earn a college degree. Below read as Carolyn McDonald of the Brigham City 6^th Ward shares her experience with BYU-PathWay.

“I started PathWay not knowing what to expect, afraid that it had been too long since my last academic course and that I would struggle refreshing my brain. To be honest, that was very true! While some were in better shape, I quickly learned that many people in the PathWay program were in the same dusty boat as I was. Either way, we were all in it together, learning, growing, and making an effort every day. Having a group of people to connect with, share stories with and learn from once a week, as we moved back into the academic world, was encouraging, and validating.

“The reduced cost was incredibly helpful for my family. I was grateful for the affordable rate and glad that it continued to be affordable, not only for the duration of the PathWay program, but through a bachelor’s degree, as well. This gave me hope and choice in my future at a time when we were struggling financially, and we didn’t think it would be possible for me to continue my education.

“The PathWay program enriched my life. It motivated me to set goals, decide what I want for myself and my family, and then work toward achieving them.

“I’m grateful for the community our little group formed that first year. It helped us all conquer our fears of returning to education and to enjoy the journey. I’m blessed to have been a part of such a great program and am glad that my family’s future is a little brighter because of it!”
