Christmas Ideas using Food Storage
Over the past year several people have shared with us how they use food storage for Christmas gifts. One of the first I heard about was a man who gives a pouch of hot chocolate mix to his neighbors, co-workers and friends. He doesn’t wrap the pouch but adds a sandwich bag of mini-marshmallows and ties them together with a ribbon and bow. He said that many people tell him it is a favorite gift. I would think that you might add a mug to drink the hot chocolate from. By the way, the hot chocolate is very good. Another lady comes into the Food Storage Center and buys a case of six number 10 cans, something different every year. She said she has five grown children so they each get a can and she gets a can herself. She said these items can be added to their food storage or used during the year. Another lady told us that she buys the pancake mix and ties a whisk and spatula to it for friend and family gifts. She said she has also used this idea as a wedding shower gift. Sometimes she will include a griddle or large frying pan as a wedding gift or birthday gift. Others have said that they will buy six different number 10 cans that the Center will put into a box, and give one of these cases to their grown children, or even as a wedding gift to help a new couple start their own home storage.
These are just some ideas that people have shared with us. Whatever you choose to store, open a can and start using it so that you will know how to prepare it when, and if, you ever need to, and to know if you like it, whether your family will eat it, and if anyone might be allergic to it. I have talked to some folks who have bought other brands of food storage, that has cost more, have opened it to try it and found that the serving was hardly big enough for a child. These are things you need to know before buying more of the same brand of food storage.

Current restrictions at the Logan Home Storage Center
Because of COVID-19 virus and its various strain the following restrictions for patrons are now recommended. A mask is recommended if you have not been vaccinated when you enter the LHSC. We request that patrons stay in the lobby area until one of the service missionaries greets them and takes their order. The service missionary will then go and fill the order and return to the cash register area. At that time the missionary will come and get the patron, review the order with them, and the patron will pay for their items. When the transaction is complete the missionary will assist the patron by taking their order out to their vehicle.
Please note that the LHSC does not accept cash or checks. They only accept credit or debit cards to pay for a patron’s order and at this time we do not accept American Express Cards.
