Goals? Spiritual, Social, Physical, or Intellectual

I think I am out of sync with the way things are supposed to work. Many people talk about setting goals so they can get started at the first of the year, but I did not get around to considering what I wanted to do on mine until the last week or so. >>Click Here for More<<

All Alone in the CROWD

Do you remember what it feels like to be alone emotionally, even though there are others around you physically? Do you have life experience of sending a text message or making some phone call more easily because another individual was at your side? Can you imagine the embrace from a loved one who has been missed for so long? >>Click Here for More<<

How do members prepare for an emergency?

For decades, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has encouraged members to prepare for a range of emergency situations from earthquakes to the loss of a job and everything in between. All stake members are strongly encouraged to follow (or continue to follow) the counsel from the brethren by being self-reliant. Preparedness is becoming more encouraged as we prepare for the second coming. Specifically, they recommend: >>Click Here for More<<

The close of 2021 brought with it a rise in inflation.  As prices increase It may not seem much when the cost of beans increases by 25 cents a can. But over time small increases will make a huge impact on our lifestyle. >>Click Here for More<<

What Are Your Plans for Self Reliance?

Many of us use this time to look to the new year and set goals and directions. What is important to us? What are our individual priorities at this particular time in our lives? What do we need to do to improve relationships with family members, friends, coworkers, and all of those around us? What changes would we like to see? And what specifically do we need to do differently to make those changes happen? >>Click Here for More<<

Allowing Heaven’s Power into Our Life

Every year the Christmas season comes and the Christmas season goes. Over the years, it has brought us rich anticipation of remembering good times, opportunities to create fresh memories, and also a remembrance of times past which are painful.   We may be fraught with confusing messages that to keep a tradition or give a specific present is more important than offering the eternal gift of an open heart to change through Christ. >>Click Here for More<<

Many thoughts have crossed our minds.  After all it’s been a crazy, and stressful, at times these past two years.  We have had earthquakes, fires, floods, tornadoes, and not to leave the pandemic out that alone has caused major changes in our lives. There is one thought that crossed our minds over and over.  It is the blessing of service rendered over and over by each of you. So, we wish to express our gratitude to you.  >>Click Here for More<<

Is It Time To Prepare Yet?

The trees in front of the Stake Center have lost almost all their leaves. Just a week ago today as I walked to an early morning meeting, I noticed that most of the leaves were still on the trees. Later that same day I noticed the carpet of leaves on the grass and the sidewalk. By this morning there were only a few leaves left in the trees. I have a front row seat from my kitchen window to watch the annual dumping of leaves at the Stake Center. >>Click Here for More<<

Preparedness: Do You Have Your Lamp Ready?

In the scriptures (Matthew 25:1-13) we read the parable of the 10 virgins. 5 were ready, 5 were not. Five made sure that they had not just enough oil for their lamps in the moment, but they also made sure that they had extra for when they needed it. 5 others put just enough oil in their lamps, perhaps just the exact minimum. As a child I struggled with this parable. Why couldn’t they just share? As an adult looking at this scripture I see two different applications, one being in regards to physical preparedness and one in regards to spiritual. >>Click Here for More<<

Stress and Anxiety

About 10 years ago, I first met with a therapist to work on my mental health and to have intervention to avoid taking further steps towards divorce. Now is the time to prepare for those things that are to come

Our vegetable garden has run its course. Yesterday Coleen and I removed some of the plants that have done a great job bearing fruit. We removed bean vines from the trellises as we picked the last crop of green beans. These vines were productive enough to allow us to fill all our available pint jars with canned green beans. The weather is cooling and moving from summer into autumn. Not long from now, nothing will be growing in our vegetable patch.

Raining Blessings or Challenges?

It rained this week! This summer the state of Utah has been struggling with a drought. This last week we had good heavy rain at just about an ideal rate, not too little and not too much, although for some the storms brought flooding and water damage. What fascinated me was the different responses of people to the stormy weather. >>Click Here for More<<

It’s Not Too Late…Until It Is.

In His parable of the wise and foolish virgins (Matthew 25:1-13 the Savior illustrates with wise virgins the importance of preparing in advance and with the foolish virgins that one can be “too late”. He then concludes with the admonition in verse 13 to “Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man cometh.” I believe this can be applied to other things also. We don’t know when (fill in the undesirable event here) will happen. >>Click Here for More<<
