The Utah Area Presidency recently announced a new education initiative for the Utah area. The goal is to “To help more Saints in the Utah Area improve their spiritual and temporal self-reliance, we want to help members enroll in institutions of higher learning, where they can receive degrees, certificates, and/or upskilling that will bless their lives.”
Who can benefit from more education?
- High school seniors and young single adults without higher education plans, especially those
who are struggling spiritually and financially - Those needing to gain new job skills to improve their employment situation
- Adults who have some college, but no degree (estimated at 400,000 people in Utah)
- Latino or other immigrant populations
Stake Education Specialists/Mentors are assigned to the Wards to build positive relationships with potential students by encouraging and showing Christ-like love. They will assist individuals in setting
educational goals, exploring affordable options, providing information on scholarships and financial aid, and see students through the application process.
Get the details at the upcoming Educational Devotional.

Thomas S. Monson once said, “My young brothers and sisters, don’t take counsel of your fears. Don’t say to yourselves, ‘I’m not wise enough, or I can’t apply myself sufficiently well to study this difficult subject or in this difficult field, so I shall choose the easier way.’ I plead with you to tax your talent and our Heavenly Father will make you equal to those decisions”.
